About
Jewish Values and Democratic Policies

Jewish ethical traditions offer rich perspectives on contemporary policy questions. Core Jewish values resonate with many Democratic policy priorities: tikkun olam (repairing the world) connects to efforts addressing poverty and expanding healthcare access; bal tashchit (avoiding wasteful destruction) informs environmental stewardship; the tradition's deep emphasis on learning and questioning supports robust public education; and the Torah's repeated reminder that "you were strangers in the land of Egypt" shapes compassionate approaches to immigration and refugee policy. These ancient teachings continue to guide how many Jewish Americans think about building a just and caring society.
